What to Expect
So you’ve heard about Cornerstone and are curious enough to pay us a visit. Sunday morning worship starts at 9:30AM. Here is what to expect.
- ATTIRE: We are more concerned about your heart than your clothes, but if you must know, most of us dress “business casual”.
- PARKING: There is plenty of parking around the back of the building and down the alley to the right. Guests, and those with mobility issues are encouraged to park in front of the building.
- ENTRANCE: You can enter through the designated main entrance door (the one closer to Rt.30), where a church volunteer will greet you and offer you a bulletin printout with the order of service we’ll be following together for the morning.
- KIDS: We love children to be a part of our worship service. We do offer a staffed nursery for ages 0-4 during the preaching time (latter half of the service). Older children are invited to stay through the service and draw “sermon art” (crayon packets available on your way in). They can show their art work to the pastor after the service and often it is shared during announcements in a future service!
- SIZE: A typical non-holiday Sunday attendance currently ranges around 100. Our church is growing so we invite you to come a few minutes early to allow time to find your seats and get settled.
- MUSIC: Contemporary in instrumentation, but we sing a mixture of hymns and newer songs. Several different groups and individuals help lead our worship during the month so it may be just 1 acoustic guitar or several folks on guitar/keyboard/cajon/bass.
- PREACHING: Pastor Rob does most of the preaching but at least five times a year an Elder or special guest will preach. Sermons are expository in format; we’re usually working our way slowly through one particular book of the Bible week after week.
- COMMUNION: The Lord’s Supper is usually observed on the first Sunday of each month, right after the sermon.
- SUNDAY SCHOOL: The worship service usually ends around 10:30AM and is then in the non-summer months followed by Sunday school classes by age group (options for all ages and nursery for littles), which you are welcome to stay for as well!
- BRUNCHES: On the first Sunday of each month (same day we do communion), after Sunday School, we enjoy a potluck-style fellowship time of pastries/snacks/fruit/etc that we would love you to stay for, regardless of whether you brought something to share or not!
- Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any other questions about Cornerstone. It is a privilege to gather and worship together, and we look forward to doing so with you if you visit!
